Video shows deputy knock phone from man's hands
The Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office says it is investigating to see if any laws or procedures were violated in an incident involving deputies that was caught on video during Friday night's Krewe of Centurion parade.
According to the sheriff's office, deputies were called to a disturbance in the Lakeside parking garage at Kenneth and Severn.
"A group of 15-20 males were reported to be fighting in the area," said Capt. Jason Rivarde, a sheriff's office spokesman. "Responding deputies located the altercation and one person, later identified as a 24-year-old Kenner man, was arrested for fighting in public and transported to a local hospital and treated for injuries suffered prior to police involvement."
The sheriff's office says an additional arrest was made after that incident, the end of which the sheriff's office says was caught on video.

"Man just recording got assaulted and arrested for nothing," reads the tweet, which shows video of deputies talking to a man who was standing at the barricade, holding his phone up to them. As one deputy gestures at the man, another deputy smacks the phone from the man's hands and walks away, making an obscene gesture. The man who was holding the phone returns the gesture toward the deputy, at which point other deputies haul the man to the ground.
"The male arrested in the video has been identified as Jacobi Cage, 20, of Laplace," said Rivarde. "Cage was arrested for disturbing the peace, resisting an officer, and battery on a police officer. He was booked and released last night at the Jefferson Parish Correctional Center."
Rivarde says the actions caught on video are also being investigated.
"We are aware of the posted video and are investigating it," said Rivarde. "If violations of law or policy are determined to have occurred, we will enforce appropriate disciplinary measures."
